Henry ties for 2nd-3rd place with “Mighty” Marius

Henry and “Mighty” Marius.
March 25, 2025: Henry, to his great surprise, tied for second/third place in the the Temecula Chess Club Tournament No. 138 in a field of 8 players. Henry explained, “A milestone in my life: I tied in a tournament with my arch nemesis ‘Mighty’ Marius Gabriel Lucan! We both finished with 5.5 points in the 8-Round February Temecula Chess Club Tuesday night tournament, thereby tying for 2nd-3rd place. Gregory Resendez finished in first place, with 6.5 points.
“I did not play against Marius in this tournament, although in previous tournaments he clobbered me 13 consecutive times! I did play against the winner of the tournament, Gregory. He was white and played 1 d4 and I defended with the Budapest Gambit ...1 Nf6 1 c4 e5, an offbeat and tricky opening which I like to play. Our game ended in a draw after 40 moves. Following is my game against Gregory.”
White: Gregory Resendez 1700 rating
Black: Henry Doktorski 1749 rating
